TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- While city and county officials say crews are working around the clock to restore power to the area, some are not happy with the speed of the work.
The latest outage figures show more than 9,000 residents are still without power in Tallahassee.
D'Anthony Lewis has been through a hurricane before, so he knows what it's like to lose power, but even then, he's concerned about how long it will last this time around.
"It is still a little bit frustrating when you have two streets right outside you that have power, and everybody else, streets in front of you have power, but you don't have power," Lewis said.
On his block of Scenic Road and the surrounding side streets, remnants of Hermine are still in plain sight.
"The night of the storm, all I heard was trees falling," Lewis said, "and I came outside. It was just super dark."
As he waits for power, Lewis says he's had to find different ways to manage.
"Any of my friends who have power, we'll go over there, charge my laptop up, charge my phone up, things like that," he said. "Gather ice, everything, and pretty much prepare for the night."
Lewis said a crew chopped up a tree that was blocking the road, but since then, he says no utility crews have arrived.
"People are just leaving, man," he said. "It's very dark out here. It's very quiet."
Lewis says, despite having no power, he will sleep at his place, hoping for relief by the night.
WTXL has reached out to the City of Tallahassee regarding an update to the outages on his block and are awaiting a response.
