First Alert Traffic: 65-year-old man dies in single-vehicle crash

BRADENTON, FL (WWSB) - A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of one man Saturday night after his vehicle ran off the roadway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 65-year-old Eugene William Depastino, of Bradenton, was traveling northbound on Town Center Parkway near River Oak Run in Bradenton, at 5:12 p.m., when his Suzuki scooter ran off the road.

Troopers say the vehicle traveled into the grass median before colliding with a tree. Depastino was thrown from his scooter as a result of the collision.

At this time it is unknown what caused Depastino to exit the roadway but, troopers say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
