TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The three Consolidated Dispatch Agency employees who were fired in relation to the death of Leon County Deputy Chris Smith spoke alongside their attorney Friday.

Call taker Darryl Newman was fired from his job as a 911 Dispatcher after the Consolidated Dispatch Agency's investigation into the call that brought firefighters and police, including Deputy Chris Smith, out to the fire that resulted in the shooting death of Deputy Smith.

Attorney Fred Flowers is representing all three of the employees, including Newman and the two dispatchers - Gwen Forehand and Doyal Hester.

Flowers said that the former employees were not trained in the protocol that the dispatch agency's investigation said that they did not follow.

Flowers also said that he believes there was a defect in the system. He says that the Consolidated Dispatch Agency's investigation was not complete and that it needs to be further looked into.

All three spoke briefly in a press conference Friday before Flowers made a statement.
