TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A fire damaged a Bass Ridge Trail house Thursday night but the people who lived there escaped without injury.

The Tallahassee Fire Department says the call was received at 7:19 p.m. on Thursday about a residential fire in the 400 block of Teal Lane.

Crews from Stations 1, 2, 7, 9, and 15 arrived to heavy smoke coming from the roof. They were able to quickly knock down and control the fire.

TFD says the fire was believed to be caused by two vent fans under the home in a crawl space.

Two adults and two children left the house safely, said Leon County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Torrance Henderson. Damages have been estimated at $80,000.

Red Cross assistance was offered and received by the family. Leon County EMS and Leon County Sheriff’s Office were on scene to assist as well.
