VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The final vote on the amended teen curfew ordinance will take place Thursday in Valdosta.
Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress says that he's in good spirits about the proposal. He believes that this ordinance is giving parents the option to regain control of their children without sending them to jail.
If the proposal is not approved, Chief Childress says he will have no other choice but to force the state curfew. That means he will issue arrest warrants to miners who are caught between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m.
"There's clearly a problem and no one has come forth with another solution other than what we've proposed, so if it's passed I'm happy, if it's not passed we'll revert back to the state curfew," said Chief Childress.
The vote will take place during the city council meeting city hall at 5:30 p.m. Valdosta community members are encouraged to come out.
