TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say a 2-year-old girl has been hospitalized in critical condition after an SUV backed into her Wednesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the incident happened on 1991 Cairo Parker Road around 4:45 p.m.
The Perry child was hit when she got out of the SUV without the driver knowing and was standing behind it as the car was reversed onto a dirt driveway, troopers said in a news release.
Troopers say the 2-year-old was hit by the SUV's right rear tire and she fell down. She was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.
The driver, who we are choosing not to identify because she has not been formally charged, could face charges pending completion of the investigation.
