Columbia Co., FL - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a driver.

According to FHP, 24-year-old Chad E. Driskell of Lake City, Florida was driving a 1994 Ford truck eastbound on County Road 242A approximately 3/10 mile west of County Road 131. Troopers say 81-year-old Rose May Franks, also of Lake City, Florida was walking in the eastbound lane of County Road 242.

A report by FHP says Driskell advised troopers that he didn't see the pedestrian in time to avoid the crash. Troopers say the front of Driskell's truck hit Franks. Franks died. Neither Driskell nor a passenger in his truck were injured.

The crash is under investigation. FHP says this traffic crash was not alcohol related.
