MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Mississippi man has been arrested after troopers say he assaulted a woman while driving on I-10 in Madison County.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a trooper was on I-10 at the 237 mile post in Madison County Tuesday morning when two other drivers stopped and informed him that a man was beating and hitting a woman. The drivers said that the incident was happened about a mile away.

When the trooper arrived on scene, he saw four people in the media and a law enforcement inspector holding a suspect at gunpoint. Eventually, the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jimmy Lee Daniels, Jr., was arrested.

Troopers say the woman with Daniels had "obvious swelling and discoloration" on her right check and right eye area as well as bruising to her forearm.

After an investigation, the trooper arrested Daniels, charged him with domestic battery and took him to the Madison County Jail.
