JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Marianna man has been critically injured when his vehicle overturned after a collision with a vehicle towing a trailer.

James L. Grammer, 76, of Marianna was taken to Southeast Alabama Medical after the accident about 1 p.m. Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Grammer was going westbound on South Street, and the other vehicle was heading northbound on State Road 276 while towing a trailer.

As Grammer's vehicle approached the intersection of State Road 276, for an unknown reason he traveled into the intersection into the northbound lane.

Trying unsuccessfully to avoid a collision, the driver of the second vehicle steered to the left.

Grammer's vehicle overturned onto its right side, and the second vehicle stopped in the intersection facing north.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured, FHP said.

FHP said charges are pending but they were not immediately specified.
