FHP investigating accident that killed two people on I-10

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a single-car accident that killed two people in Suwannee County. 

James Jackson, 34, and Shaletha Brooks, 25, of Madison, Fla. both died from their injuries sustained in the accident.  

According to FHP, the accident happened at about 2:34 p.m. Thursday on I-10 EB.  

FHP stated Jackson was driving on I-10 and for unknown reasons, his car ran off the road and hit a tree. 

FHP said Jackson was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital and later pronounced dead. Brooks was pronounced dead on the scene. 

At this time, it is unknown if Jackson or Brooks were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident and if alcohol played a factor. 


SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on I-10 in Live Oak.   

According to FHP, there was a fatal accident in Live Oak at about 2:39 p.m. Thursday on I-10 EB near mile marker 291. 

FHP arrived on the scene at about 2:51 p.m. and all lanes are currently open.  

At this time, we do not know how many vehicles were involved and if there are any other injuries.
