FRANKLIN Co., FL - Officials are releasing few details regarding a Thursday night incident at the Franklin Correctional Institution.
The Florida Department of Corrections says the incident involved inmates from multiple dorms of the facility but that there were no serious injuries.
"Last night, there was a major disturbance involving a number of inmates housed in multiple dorms at Franklin Correctional Institution. Utilizing a trained tactical response, Department staff quickly and effectively quelled the situation. Due in no small part to the judgement and professionalism of the responding officers, there were no serious injuries to either inmates or employees," said Alberto Moscoso, the Interim Communications Director in an email to media.
They also say the incident is still under investigation.
