TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The family of a former FAMU football player is inviting the community to remember him this holiday season.
Jonathan Ferrell was shot and killed last year by a police officer in North Carolina, while he was trying to get help after a car accident.
A prayer service and candlelight vigil is set for Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at FAMU DRS gym at 400 West Orange Avenue.
Ferrell's family is also collecting toys to give to kids in the Tallahassee area. They say Jonathan was involved in charitable work and mentoring young people.
