TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - America is 28 days into the partial government shutdown, and in Tallahassee federal workers are calling for more action to help those affected.
The workers have already rallied, but they say they will continue to fight until the shutdown ends.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Friday morning to tell how those federal workers are continuing their fight.
The fight continues with a news conference and new team of community members backing those workers.
In the 28 days of the shutdown, many federal workers such as TSA Agents and correctional workers have gone into work, knowing that they won't be receiving any money come payday.
A group of lawyers began to collect gift cards to help those workers, and now religious institutes such as Bethel Missionary and Temple Israel are also collecting gift cards and donations.
To continue that support, many in the community have created the special task force "Love Thy Neighbor Movement.
It''s made up of business leaders, faith leaders, and more.
At 11 a.m. Monday, that task force is unveiling a detailed plan to assist federal workers at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
There will also be a special church service at the First Presbyterian at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
