The Federal Communications Commission will investigate what caused an outage that left AT&T customers unable to dial 911 Wednesday evening.
FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said he had spoken with the CEO of AT&T and that FCC staff would track down what caused the outage.
"Every call to 911 must go through," Pai said in a statement.
The outage affected several states and lasted several hours Wednesday evening.
