TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Although government is open again, many families are still feeling the pinch of no paychecks this year.
This Thursday morning the Leon County Sheriff's Office and Farm Share are coming together to help stock refrigerators and pantries.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Thursday at the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
Farm Share, a Florida-based food nonprofit, and the LCSO are responding to food insecure households and the needs of federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown
LCSO will be on hand to assist participants by greeting, bagging and handing out approximately 30,000 pounds of food supplements, proteins, produce, assorted shelf-stable food, drinks, and other assorted healthy food items to an anticipated 500 food insecure households.
This is a drive-thru - maximum three households per vehicle - and walk-up distribution while supplies last. Official federal IDs are required for federal employees in attendance.
Food will be given out from 8 a.m. until the food runs out.
The line has already started to form.
