FAMU Using Advisory Board to Find New Football Coach

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Florida A &M University is creating an advisory committee to find a new head football coach, after last week's firing of Earl Holmes.

The nine-person panel will be led by John Wooten, a former pro football player who now works for equal opportunity hiring in the NFL.

Other committee members include: FAMU's baseball coach Jamey Shouppe; former football coach and member of the Football Playoff Selection Committee Tyrone Willingham; two-time president of the FAMU National Alumni Association Tommy Mitchell; FAMU pharmacy professor Dr. Ebenezer Oriaku; Natalie White, a member of the President's Alumni Advisory Board for Athletics;  Herb Reinhard, the athletic director at Valdosta State University and a member of the FAMU Sports Hall of Fame; President's Alumni Advisory Board for Athletics member Nelson Townsend; and student representative Ronnie Mackey Jr.

The FAMU Athletic Department hopes to name a permanent head coach by January.
