TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Students at Florida A&M University are upset with the board of trustees' decision to end president Elmira Mangum's contract.

This comes after months of tension between Mangum and the board.

The Student Government Association (SGA) put out an online survey asking students two questions:

1) Should Mangum's contract be extended?

2) Does the board of trustees take into consideration student opinions when making decisions?

"You can't remove the head of leadership without hearing the students of FAMU," said SGA senate president Brandon Johnson. "We pay tuition to be here. This university would not be here if it was not for us. We're the number one stakeholders, and you can't make a decision without hearing our concerns. student activism is no stranger to FAMU. Students at FAMU started the Tallahassee Bus Boycott, so this is in our blood. It's in our DNA, so whatever we decide to do, whatever action we take, this is natural for us. We love our university. We defend our university at all cost."

A town hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, where student government leaders are expected to organize protests in support of the university and Mangum.

The board of trustees will meet Thursday at 9 a.m. in the grand ballroom.
