JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day was celebrated in Jacksonville today, and FAMU President Dr. Elmira Mangum was there to march in the city's parade.
Dr. Mangum joined the parade's Grand Marshal US Representative Corrine Brown in the grandstand.
She is the first University President invited to be a part of the parade in its 36 year history.
About 40,000 people usually turn out for the event.
It was organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Foundation.
