TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida A&M University President Elmira Mangum is in Berlin, Germany, attending a workshop looking at student abroad programs in schools that serve minority groups.
The workshop, titled Study Abroad Leadership Workshop for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), looks at the importance of study abroad programs for MSIs and how university officials can get around the barriers that prevent minority students from participating in study abroad programs.
The event was organized by the Center for Minority Serving Institutions.
This isn't the first initiative by the school's President to encourage FAMU students to travel abroad. In September, some students were able to get their passports processed for free.
