FAMU Plans Fun Run To Kick Off Presidential Inauguration Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--You can take part in the Florida A&M University 2014 Presidential Inauguration 5K Run, Walk, Roll & Stroll.

The run kicks off a week-long celebration for the inauguration of FAMU’s 11th president, Elmira Mangum, Ph.D. The formal swearing ceremony will take place at 10:10 a.m. on October 3, which is also FAMU’s 127th birthday.

The 5K will start at four p.m. The route begins at Bragg Memorial Stadium, located at 1601 Perry Street, and ends at Cascades Park. After the run, there's a jazz concert at Cascades Park at five p.m.

Registration for the race is currently open. Participants can pre-register by submitting a registration form at www.FAMUinauguration2014.com. The deadline for pre-registration is Friday.

You can donate new maternity and infant clothing, nursery and newborn items. Donations will benefit healthy babies and women receiving early and regular prenatal care.
