TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida A&M University is looking to improve the overall health of its students.
The university just announced a partnership for America's Healthier Campus Initiative to promote wellness and healthier food options on campus. It is also one of 60 schools in the nation and the first school in Florida to join the program.
The initiative will focus on several areas including, food, wellness programs and physical activities.
"Your eating habits, your study habits and things of that of that nature, those are things that transfer into a work ethic once they leave the university campus and so yes we hope that what we are doing will help train them to be healthier people once they leave our campus," said Rebecca Brown, the assistant vice president of finance and administration.
Brown says the program will include healthier options at vending machines and the food court as well as cooking classes that focus on incorporating more fruits and vegetables.
