TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - At Florida A&M University auditorium seats filled up Thursday night with people eager to learn about parenting rights in the Sunshine State.
This is one of four panel discussions on different social and political issues.
FAMU's Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice is teaming up with a local law office to put on the events to make sure community members understand the laws that affect their lives.
The event focused on the rights of unwed parents and grandparents.
"I really, really, really want to impart some very important information," said Cydnee Brown, an attorney. "I expect that unwed parents and grandparents that come here tonight will leave this seminar with some definitive answers on what to do, how to do it and get things done and rolling on their behalf. The law has an avenue for everyone."
The next seminar will be held next Thursday at the Perry Paige Auditorium at 6 p.m.
The topic of discussion will be prisoners re-entering society.
