TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida A&M University held its first convocation of the spring semester. The honoree, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The ceremony was held Thursday afternoon inside the Gaither Gym.
The crowd heard from speaker Dr. Everette Ward, President of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the same fraternity that Dr. King was a member of.
Christopher Knight, President of FAMU's Alpha Phi Alpha Chapter, explained what MLK means to the university.
"Having an opportunity to have this here on FAMU campus, this open convocation gives the community the opportunity to learn a lot more about him and his works," said Knight.
MLK Day will be on Monday, Jan. 21.
