TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida A&M University is wrapping up their community forum series Thursday where experts from around the Capital City weigh in on social issues in our neighborhoods.

The community series is a new initiative by FAMU and the Cydnee Brown Law Firm.

The event allows people to have open dialogue about the legalities of entrepreneurship, parental rights, and many other topics.

Event organizers say they believe this series will help students become more engaged and raise awareness about social issues in the community.

A lot of times and some of our communities they're just not aware they don't have the information. So it's one to deliver vital information them so it empowers them," said Vonda Richardson, with FAMU Cooperative Extension Program. "I give them the information so they can make informed decisions."

FAMU says it also wants to engage members of the community so they can get involved in the discussion about these issues.

Thursday was the last community forum of this series.

Event organizers are planning to hold the next community series in September.
