GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Quincy Native and Florida A&M University head football coach, Willie Ray Simmons, stood before more than 150 jail inmates, family, friends and clergy Wednesday evening at the Gadsden County Jail to share a message of inspiration.
The former Gadsden County High School All-Star said he was not just a football player, because it didn't define who he was, but he was rather a man who played football.
"It really doesn't matter about your past," Simmons said. "It's about your future and the choices you make from this point on."
Simmons came to let those locked up know it's not too late for positive, lasting change.
The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office honored Simmons for his since of encouragement and giving back to the community.
