TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida A&M University is getting into the holiday giving spirit by giving back to the Big Bend area with two events.
The university announced that it's gearing up for its annual Holiday Toy Drive and Celebration on Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Interim President Larry Robinson and his wife Sharon will host the event at the President's House on Adams Street.
Organizers have asked community members to bring new, unwrapped gifts for children of all ages. The gifts will be donated to local organizations that focus on supporting children and families in need.
They said that last year’s Toy Drive helped around 400 children receive gifts during the holidays.
Later in December, the university will also host its annual “Shop with a Cop” event, where FAMU police officers will take local families and children shopping for the holidays at Walmart stores.
For more information about making donations for next week’s Toy Drive, contact event organizer Vernon Bryant at (850) 412-5106 or vernon.bryant@famu.edu.
