TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - FAMU officials are making sure that the Rattlers' campus is ready in the event of severe weather.
The National Weather Service presented school leaders with their Storm Ready certification Monday morning.
As a part of the program, participants must establish a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center.
They must also have more than one way to receive severe weather warnings, get updated forecasts, and alert the public.
Officials say it's a great way to make sure they're fully prepared if bad weather strikes.
Storm Ready groups must also promote the importance of public readiness through community seminars and develop a formal hazardous weather plan that includes training severe weather spotters and holding emergency exercises.
