Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) -- Tough times have fallen on FAMU and university leaders say more students could help the situation.
Dr. Mangum, FAMU President, says only 9,500 students are enrolled this Fall semester.
State aid has fallen 28% and student fees have gone up 65% since 2008.
The men's golf and tennis teams have also recently been suspended.
Dr. Mangum said, "It's always a challenge because our budgets are built upon enrollment, and a lot of our activities are built upon student fees so if you don't have the students, you don't have the fee."
FAMU is asking for continued support as they struggle with low enrollment numbers.
