TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - It's FAMU Day at the Capitol.
The day kicked off Thursday morning with FAMU Alumni and supporters making visits with lawmakers, hoping to make sure they keep the university in mind during the session.
Those who gathered for FAMU Day also honored members of the state legislature who are FAMU grads.
A FAMU Alumni Association official says, it is important to carry on this annual event.
According to Leila Walker the 3rd VP of FAMU National Alumni Association, "It's important because this is FAMU's opportunity to meet and greet and inform our state legislators about the importance of FAMU, as an educational institution and solicit their support."
The university is hosting an Alumni and legislative reception at the Capitol, where they will be announcing a new scholarship program, as well as a fundraising campaign.
