TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)---Members of the Florida A&M University board of trustees say that President Elmira Mangum should have consulted with them before agreeing to changes at the joint College of Engineering.

That sentiment was discussed during a Trustees meeting held on Tuesday Night.

In May, Dr. Elmira Mangum agreed to name Florida State University as the fiscal agent of a new structure built at the college.

Some FAMU representatives say they're upset that they were not consulted about how to handle the finances before that decision was made.

"It's just hard for me to get my arms around a $13 million decision that we made without one, consultation of the chair, two consultation of the budget and finance chair and three, probably even more importantly… consultation of the entire board because I myself would have voted to go in a different direction" Said FAMU Trustee Kelvin Lawson.

Meanwhile President Mangum says though Florida State University will be in charge of the accounting, FAMU will still have equal control and will get to decide how that money is spent.
