TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Anger directed at the government's policy of separating immigrant children from their parents has reached a breaking point.

Saturday, crowds took the streets in U.S. cities protesting President Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward undocumented immigrants.

Protesters are demanding immigrant families be reunited immediately.

This comes nearly two months after the Trump administration implemented its zero tolerance policy.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, more than 2,000 undocumented children remain separated from their families.

After nation-wide outrage, President Trump reversed the separation policy on June 20.

However, protesters aren't waiting.

"What if it were your children? What if you were the parent? What if your children were taken away from you and you had where they were," said protester Cindy Reid. "My heart goes out to those families and just hate the injustice that I seen. We need to do something and say something about it."

Following Trump's policy change, the Department of Health and Human Services accounts for only six children returning to their parents.

Protesters say they won't be silenced until every family is reunited.
