TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee city commissioners unanimously approved to give the family of fallen Leon County Deputy Chris Smith $200,000.

The Leon County Commission awarded the family an additional $200,000.

Last week, the Consolidated Dispatch Agency approved to give Smith's family $950,000.

This brings the total for the family to receive $1.35 million.

Deputy Smith was responding to a house fire on November 22, 2014, when he was shot and killed by a man his family says, the CDA knew had intentions of harming first responders.
