VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--It's been nearly a year since a Valdosta D.J. was shot and killed outside of a radio station. I talked with Stephon Edgerton's 14-year old daughter. She and her family are still hoping for justice.
Mia Edgerton wakes up every morning wishing she could bring back her father.
"I just want God to continue to cover us as well because we're having a very a hard time this month including my little siblings," said Mia Edgerton.
Her father, Stephon Edgerton was known on air as Juan Gatti on V96. Mia will never forget January 21, 2012, that's when her father was gunned down. Deputies say a man walked up and shot him three times, killing him as he was leaving work.
"We had a lot of good times," said Mia. "We used to sit up at like three in the morning talking during Christmas break."
Monday marks a year since her father's death and to honor him the family is lighting candles and planting a tree at WGOV, the radio station where he worked.
"We don't know how or who did it and what was the reason," said Mia."He never did anything to anyone."
Mia Edgerton wants more than anything for her father's killer to be brought to justice.
The vigil is at WGOV on Highway 84 Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Lowndes sheriff's deputies say they're actively working this case. If you have any information on the crime you're urged to call them at 229-671-2900.
