PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-month-old girl is recovering in a hospital after being attacked by the family's dog.
The News-Herald (http://bit.ly/1WOlyys ) reports the Siberian husky named Angus was euthanized immediately after being picked up by Bay County Animal Control on Monday. The family told investigators they wanted the dog to be "put down."
Bay County spokeswoman Valerie Sale says the dog belonged to the family so it was their choice. She says there were no other options since it couldn't be adopted after biting a child.
According to an animal control officer's report, the child's mother said the baby and dog had been playing together all morning before biting her near the nose and beside her right ear.
The incident happened at a home at Naval Support Activity Panama City.
