VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)-- Friends and family continue to mourn the loss of a Valdosta radio DJ two years after his death. Stephon Edgerton, known as "Juan Gatti" on V96, was killed on January 20, 2012.
Edgerton finished his overnight shift and was leaving the V96 radio station when Lowndes County deputies say someone shot him three times. Before he died, Edgerton called 911 and described the person who shot him as a white man wearing a mask. Two years later, investigators still don't know who shot him, and loved ones are still looking for answers.
"He always had a smile on his face," said coworker Charlie Walker. "No matter what the situation was he could always light up a room and have some fun with it."
"It's better to be honest and be truthful than hold something inside that could make a difference to somebody's life," said investigator Christy Griffin with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.
In an interview last year, Edgerton's daughter Mia said she wakes up every morning wishing she could bring back her father. Those close to him want his killer brought to justice.
"We don't know why and who did it and what was the reason because he never did anything to anyone," said Mia Edgerton.
"The case has been too long. There's been too much talk on the street. There's leads out there," said Walker. "It's got to come to an end sometime."
