VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Sunday marked three years since the death of Valdosta teen, Kendrick Johnson.

Sunday morning, family and friends held a prayer vigil at Kendrick's grave sight followed by a balloon release. For the past week, the family has been joined by many people across the country including the families of Michael Brown and Corey Jones.

Kendrick Johnson was found dead rolled up in a gym mat at Lowndes High School. His family believes he was murdered, but the Lowndes County Sheriff's office contends his death was accidental.

Johnson's family says its that kind of support that lets them keep moving forward in their search for justice, "well after today, we go right back to fighting. There's no ending, we got to fight till we get justice, and I do declare 2016 is our year for justice for Kendrick Johnson.">
