The first Tallahassee baby of the new year was born just hours after the start of the new year.
At Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, just minutes after 2 this morning. The Morrar family welcomed baby Omar into the world.
He weighed seven pounds, ten ounces, and measured at 20-and-a-half inches.
Omar's mother had this to say about her new son.
"Omar's due date was in 2017, but he decided to wait a little longer to arrive. We are excited Omar is finally here and gets to meet his big sister and big brother very soon."
At Capital Regional, two new moms are excited about their new years surprises.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams spoke to those parents moments after they gave birth.
It's a new year and right behind these doors, three families are welcoming a new addition.
Two of the families gave birth before noon on New Year's Day at Capital Regional Medical Center.
The first three babies were all boys.
The mom of Capital Regional's very first baby was surprised, but mom to the second baby felt her son would come today.
Both moms say it doesn't matter what day their kids were born, they're just happy to have their little boys in their life now.
The Cherry family has already found a nickname for baby Robert "Ducky" because of his already signature duck lips pout.
