TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's not quite midnight, but Tallahassee has already seen some fireworks Monday night with the city's official celebration at Cascades Park.
The fireworks started at 7 p.m. Monay, bringing lots of families and residents downtown to watch.
The display lasted for about 10 minutes. The pyrotechnics company that set up the show took 12 hours to get everything ready.
A big crowd enjoyed a relatively new way to celebrate the new year in the Capital City.
Mike Goldstein, the owner of Capital City Pedicabs, commented on the event.
"It's really cool to see everyone come together tonight for an early show," Goldstein said. "We'll have more people later at midnight with the ball dropping and all the fireworks down in Collegetown, but it's really cool to see everyone come out tonight for an early thing like this with the familes. If they've got to go to bed early, this is the place to be."
The New Year's Eve fireworks at Cascades Park started in 2016.
The idea was to attract more families and offer a new way to celebrate the holiday.
