TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Terminally ill patients would be able to take experimental drugs under a bill that passed the Florida House.

The House on Thursday voted unanimously for the bill that would allow dying people to take experimental drugs as long as they've gone through the first phase of federal approval.

The Bill (HB 269) is called the "Right To Try Act."

Lawmakers said that people who have tried all other options shouldn't have to wait for final U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to see if a drug being tested can help them.

Some lawmakers wanted medical marijuana included in the bill, but the effort to add that language didn't have enough support.
