TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A proposal to include use of non-smokable marijuana of all strengths and doses in a law allowing terminally ill patients to use experimental drugs has passed its final Senate committee and is heading to the floor.
Sen. Rob Bradley's measure went back to its original intent of expanding the Right to Try Act, which passed last year. The Republican from Fleming Island had added an amendment that would have added some regulations to a 2014 bill allowing for the legalization of low-THC marijuana to treat certain illnesses, including children suffering from epilepsy, before withdrawing it.
The Fiscal Policy committee also defeated proposals to expand the number of nurseries from five to 30.
The Right to Try Act currently allows terminal patients to try any medicine that passed phase one of a FDA clinical trial.
