MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Three former Cherokee County court reporters have been sentenced on racketeering charges.
The Cobb County District Attorney's office says Tammy Stine, Kimberly Probst and Betty Petersen pleaded guilty to racketeering Tuesday.
Authorities say the three expanded the spacing in court transcripts to boost the number of transcribed pages and billed the county for pages that didn't exist.
Isaza says there are regulations governing how many characters should be on each line of court transcripts and how many lines should be on each page.
Stine has paid $225,000 in restitution and has been sentenced to eight months in jail.
Probst has paid $50,000 in restitution and has been sentenced to four months in jail.
Petersen has been sentenced to six months in jail and is ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution.
