LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 50-year-old ex-convict has been sentenced as a career criminal to spend the rest of his life in Nevada state prison for impersonating a police officer and raping prostitutes.

Mark Picozzi was sentenced Thursday in Clark County District Court to consecutive life terms without parole, plus another 10-years-to-life.

Prosecutor Dena Rinetti says she believes Picozzi blames his victims for his convictions in April on charges including sexual assault, lewdness, impersonating an officer, battery and robbery.

Picozzi's attorney, Michael Schwarz, says he'll appeal.

Picozzi was arrested in January 2014 after a woman from an escort service reported he told her he was a vice officer and raped her in a room at a Las Vegas Strip resort.

A second victim came forward after Picozzi's arrest.

Picozzi had prior felony convictions in New Jersey and Florida.
