ATLANTA (AP) — The former Atlanta Public Schools human resources chief says the district's former superintendent ordered drafts of a report on the investigation into standardized test cheating allegations to be destroyed.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday that (http://on-ajc.com/1CDPF08 ) Millicent Few said she was told it was legal to destroy the drafts because they weren't final.
Few was charged with making false statements, but pleaded guilty to malfeasance of office and testified as part of a deal with prosecutors. She said the district misled state officials and the media by providing false information in response to cheating allegations.
Thirty-five former APS educators have been indicted in the cheating conspiracy. Twelve are on trial and plea deals have been reached with the others. Former superintendent Beverly Hall isn't on trial as she battles cancer.
