DEATSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Department of Corrections officials say one of two inmates who escaped a facility in central Alabama has been taken into custody in west Georgia.
Department spokeswoman Kristi Gates tells Al.com (http://bit.ly/1swsDRb ) 22-year-old Orrin Chappell was arrested by police in Newnan, Georgia Nov. 5. Alabama corrections officials have said Chappell and 39-year-old Todd Pike escaped from the Frank Lee Work Center in Deatsville on Nov. 3.
Gates says Chappell is awaiting extradition to Alabama and Pike remains at large. Pike was serving a two-year sentence on a credit card fraud charge out of Chambers County.
Authorities say Chappell was sentenced to 10 years on drug charges.
