TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Erik David, the first person to file to run for Tallahassee mayor, has dropped out of the race.

Both a FSU student and Tallahassee native, David was the first to file for the race in April 2017.

According to David's campaign site, he lived in Tallahassee for 24 years before he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2010 and completed his term of service in 2011.

Calling himself a "social democrat", some of the most pressing issues to David were combating climate change, protecting and expanding social security, passing a medicare for all single-payer system, making public colleges and universities tuition-free, and increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
