TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) -- Erik David is first person to throw his hat into the race for Tallahassee mayor.
FSU student and Tallahassee native Erik David filed the paperwork to run this week.
So far, he's the sole candidate in the race.
According to David's campaign site, he has lived in Tallahassee for 24 years before he enlisted into the U.S. Army.
He was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2010 and completed his term of service in 2011.
Calling himself a "social democrat", some of the most pressing issues to David are combating climate change, protecting and expanding social security, passing a medicare for all single-payer system, making public colleges and universities tuition-free, and increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
