Energy Ball to benefit Rethink Energy, local summer camp

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Rethink Florida is holding a fundraising ball to benefit their programs, including their annual Energy Camp.

The Energy Ball will be held on June 22, 2013, in the Tallahassee's General Federation of Women's Clubs clubhouse, which is located at 1513 Cristobal Drive in Midtown. The event will be from 7 -10:30 p.m.

There will a bar, appetizers, a silent auction and live music featuring Belmont and Jones, the New 76ers and High Mile South. The winners of the 2013 Energy Innovator Awards, for individuals who deserve special recognition for energy innovation, will be announced as well.

Tickets ar $25 per person, $40 for couples, and $10 for students or volunteers with Rethink Energy Florida. Friends of Rethink Energy are Free with a Friend-level sponsorship, which costs $100. For more information on how to become a sponsor, visit Rethinkenergyflorida.org.

The proceeds will go towards providing scholarships for students attending the organization's annual Energy Camp. The camp is for rising third-sixth graders; students will learn about the impact of fossil fuel usage, renewable energy options, and the fundamental skills required as energy use is downsized.

Though the cost to attend the camp is $150, admission is based on a sliding scale designed to turn no child away.

The camp will be held in two phases; Energy Camp I will be held on July 15-19 and 22-26 at United Church in Tallahassee, and Energy Camp II will be held on July 29-August 2 at either the Ghazvini Learning Center or Leon County Extension Office.  For more information, visit rethinkenergyflorida.org.
