LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - More than 500 emergency personnel from across the country are ready to deploy from a staging location in the Capital City.

Many crews have already been to parts of Panama City and Mexico Beach, the hardest hit from the hurricane.

The main objective for these emergency responders is the three 'R's': rescue, relocation and recovery.

"Recovery is the biggest one because the recovery is for the locals here to make sure that they get plenty of rest, plenty of sleep, that way when everything's done and we are able to leave that we've kind of restored some order back to the locals and they can take care of themselves," said Damon Schilling, Public Information Officer for American Medical Response.

Schilling adds the emergency crews will stay for as long as they are needed.
