TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida legislators are halfway through the 2016 session are celebrating with pancakes.
Elected officials from the city, county and state were on hand Thursday morning at the Edison, serving up short stacks for dozens of community members.
It's a way to meet the people in important positions in a relaxed setting. Plus, the pancake proceeds support the Foundation for Leon County Schools.
Jackie Pons, Leon County Superintendent, said, "Well, I think it's important because the community gives so much to education, you know if you think about our Leon County Schools foundation, they're involved in everything we do, all kinds of mini grants for teachers and the classrooms, and this is an example that the community gives back to our foundation and gives back to education...and again, we really appreciate it."
Thursday morning's celebration at the Edison also honored the 169th birthday of its namesake, Thomas Edison.
