TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Elder Care Services of the Big Bend needs your help to keep seniors cool this summer.
They're working to distribute fans to seniors in need. They say many seniors live on fixed incomes and can't afford to keep their air conditioning running. Some others have no air conditioning units at all.
Elder Care Services Ed Gines says it's a good deed that might sometimes go unnoticed, but never unappreciated.
"It's overwhelming, the appreciation they feel," said Gines. "They're happy, it's a measurable sigh of relief that they now will be able to live in some degree of comfort."
Elder Care Services accepts donations of fans, as well as money to buy new ones, in person, by phone or by mail.
